The 15-year-old girl who was allegedly abused sexually by the Deputy Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Jomoro Constituency of the Western Region claims her father has had carnal knowledge of her more than ten (10) times.

Awake News reported yesterday, the arrest of the Jomoro Constituency Deputy Organizer of the NPP, Stephen Cobbina alias Biggie for defiling his biological daughter.

This report was confirmed by the Jomoro District Police Commander, DSP McCarthy Zenge.

He said the suspect has been remanded into prison custody at Sekondi by the Half Assini Magistrate Court and will reappear before court April 26.

Latest updates suggest the victim is alleging that her father had sex with her not less than twelve (12) times.

According to sources, the girl whose parents are separated, was living with her father in Italy until he brought her back to continue schooling in Ghana.

While in Italy, Biggie sexually assaulted his daughter on 12 occasions, the victim tells the police.

It is not clear why she failed to report the suspect earlier but sources say the recent complaint was triggered by the suspect’s continuous restrictions on the girl from engaging in illicit sexual relationships with boys in the Jomoro community.

They said the girl was angered by her father’s involvement in her “private” life and vowed to expose him, hence, confessed the incident to her mother who subsequently caused the arrest of her ex-husband.

Jomoro NPP distances itself from sexual abuse case

Chairman of the Jomoro NPP, Simon Amoah says the NPP will not interfere in the case involving the Deputy Youth Organizer.

He tells Peace FM in an interview monitored by Awake News that though Biggie is an executive member of the party, the NPP will sit back and watch as the law takes its course.

“As a political party, there’s nothing we can do because this is an issue with the law. We won’t say because our party is in power we’ll fight the law or the police. It’s true he is a Deputy Youth Organizer but since he is in the grips of the law, we distance ourselves from this as a political party. We’re saddened by the incident but none is above the law,” Mr. Amoah said.
