Former President John Dramani Mahama has  paid a total amount of GHc6,000 to defray the hospital bills of the late wife of Mr Musah Alhassan, a former branch youth organiser of NDC for Sor Number2 in the Damongo constituency.
Presenting the money on behalf of the former President to Mr Abdulai who guaranteed for the payment on the victim’s behalf, former Minister for food and Agriculture Alhaji Mohammed Limuna Muniru thanked Mr Abdulai for standing in for the late Madam Alhassan Salamatu.
Speaking to Nkilgi Fm at Boe, Alhaji Muniru explained that the delay in releasing the cash was as a result of the distance since Mr Abdulai proposed to pick the money by himself instead of through bank transaction.
The family of the late victim thanked the former President for his Godly intervention and wished him well in all his endeavors.
They praised the former President for always checking on them through Alhaji Muniru since the very day the incident happened till the victim passed on and finally settled the bills.
Nkilgi FM on Wednesday 29th August, 2018, reported a sad incident of fire burning a family of five inside a room at Kotito, a farming community in the Damongo District of the Northern Region.
Mr Musah Alhassan, who is the head of the family died in the process with the wife and three of his children referred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital. Mr Musah Alhassan was the former branch Youth organiser of NDC for Sor Number2 in the Damongo Constituency before his death.
The wife, Madam Salamatu Alhassan was further referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital burns center in Kumasi. She was discharged after months of admission in the hospital but unfortunately passed on 14th December, 2018 at Damongo.
An appeal for funds was launched to pay the hospital bills of the victims. Former Mahama quickly sent Alhaji Muniru to Kumasi only for him to hear the demise of the victim. Alhaji Muniru was briefed on how one Mr Abdulai guaranteed for the late victim to be taken care of who immediately contacted Mr Abdulai and handed over the cash to him on former President Mahama’s behalf.
